Our recent project was the redesign of a luxury apartment website (Kudina Luxury Apartments in Abuja). It also involved google ads campaigns for quick result. The project lasted for a week and the google ads campaign has been ongoing ever since. The apartments fortune was transformed and the owners are excited to keep paying for ads services.
My advice is for the client to have set goals for any project because without goals, success cannot be measured. Also they should know what they want and be ready to pay for it. Everything in life id garbage in garbage out, when you pay for cheap services you get a cheap work.
They should consider the experience, the professionalism, the charges and the customer value. Also key is after sales services like support and management. These should be well discussed before engaging the services of any freelancer or agency
