Mathematics differs from other sciences in its unique relationship to reality because its observations and experiments do not concern physical objects; hence, mathematics is not an empirical science. During childhood and adolescence, especially if one is not fond of playing with numbers or solving problems, we tend to think that mathematics are very abstract and have little relevance in everyday life.
